Restaurants & Cafés
In restaurants, cafés and food service businesses three things shape the accounting: the document order of daily sales, more than one VAT rate within the same business, and staff turnover. We have separate checks for each.
Daily sales and collection consistency
Your end-of-day Z reports, card terminal statements, meal-card and online ordering platform settlement reports are checked against one another during the period. If a day's Z report differs from the collections for that day, it is raised before the period closes.
Separating VAT rates
Dine-in, takeaway and packaged product sales may not carry the same rate; on the purchase side, food, beverage and service purchases arrive at different rates. Before the return is filed, the distribution of the tax base across the rates is reviewed separately.
Staff turnover
Entries and exits are frequent in this field, and missing the statutory notification deadline gives rise to an administrative fine. Entry and exit dates are tracked in our system without being left to the last legal day. Movements during the month are reflected in payroll and in the monthly premium service document; missing days and day counts are checked.
Also monitored through the period
- Withholding on your rent payments and stamp duty on the lease agreement
- Separate treatment of wastage and spoiled goods for VAT purposes
- Tax office and social security notifications and the new workplace file when a branch opens
- Depreciation of your fit-out, kitchen equipment and fixtures
